Like Mark Twight says you got to earn these shirts – they are not for sale. It was great to have my good friend in town tearing up the gym. Jim has earned everything he has through smart, hard work and a true dedication to our country. Stay safe bro.
We will be closed August 1-5, and back open for business Saturday August 6. We will be responding to all emails and calls when we get back during the work week of August 8-13.

Some days are just like that. You need to hit, slam, or beat on something. Take it to the gym is what we tell folks. Tap into the rage, anger, fury, hate, or whatever you call it. Utilize and focus it. We’ve got punching bags, slam balls, sledge hammers and tires for you to release on.
Like the lyrics from one of my favorite Metallica songs says “I won’t waste my hate on you. I think I’ll keep it for myself”
Try it. I guarantee you’ll feel better in more ways than one.
Here is Anika doing multiple pull ups with out the bands. There was a time when all she wanted was to do one pull up, and yesterday she fired out 4 without assistance. This is due to her hard work here and at the dinner table.
On this holiday of thanks Cathy and I are thankful to all of our members. They are setting and reaching goals. They are pushing themselves to new levels they didn’t think attainable. They are getting comfortable being uncomfortable. They are implementing new training modalities into their programs and seeing results. They are paying attention to the details. They are inspiring each other. All of this and more is happening down here at ICG and Cathy and I are lucky enough to be a part of it and witness it. And this is why we are thankful on this holiday, to all of our members who make this “box” gym such an incredible place to train and grow.

This was the end result of brainstorming balance push up session the other day. If you can’t tell what is going in the photo. It is a kettlebell, a steel ball, and piece of wood, none of which are connected. This is truly an exercise in “purity of movement”. I learned the importance of this from studying Nate Morrison and is something I utilize in my training.
There are many paths that will lead you to a given destination. Some paths just make the journey more fun than others. We pride our selves on continualy learning and experimenting here so that “fun” stays in the functional fitness.

Inspiration is unique to all of us. To me Joe Puryear was truly an inspirational climber. Joe and his partner David Gottlieb were killed while putting up a new route in Tibet while pursuing their 2010 Mugs Stump Award. Go here for a description of the accident.

Joe lived in Leavenworth. I never had the opportunity to meet Joe. I came across his climbing resume and was instantly blown away. I was hoping to one day to see a slide show of his and feed off of his obvious energy.
Our thoughts go out to all of those who knew and loved Joe and David. Rest in Peace.
I will keep our members posted on any sort of fund that will be created to help with all the services that will follow.
